A dancer, painter, sculptor, lighting designer, and saxophonist performed in an abandoned building, alleyway, and parking garage in 2003 and Alternative Collaborations, an expression of art and motion, was born. The name is derived from the use of alternative theater spaces to exhibit a moving art collaboration. Since its inception, Alt C Dance has continued to grow and expand under the direction of Dana M. Reed and has presented works in various venues throughout the southern and eastern United States. Alternative Collaborations has been awarded performance and artistic residencies world wide and has had new projects commissioned in the United States. Each collaboration creates a new artistic relationship that encourages experimentation and invention resulting in a cohesive final performance.
