GREAT NEWS
Kid’s Play NOLA has great news! We have been awarded our first grant from the Katrina’s Kids Project. This grant will offer some support for our summer program starting in June 2010. This puts us 1/3 of the way to our goal budget for the launch of Kid’s Play NOLA.
There is still much more to be done: raise more funds, find a dance space, find a donor to provide daily snacks, a place to live, a car, pack up the NYC apartment, etc etc etc. Sometimes I think my head is going to explode! Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Your year-end donations are needed to help our program launch on date, and if you know me, I am never late! I have so much energy into KP NOLA and I can’t wait to get started. There are so many children out there that need art, are craving art.
So many art programs have been cut from the public school systems and New Orleans is still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. These kids will benefit by expressing themselves and finding their own voice through music, dance, theater, and visual art. Help me start my foundation one slab at a time. I need all the help I can get.
This is a huge move for me and I am so lucky to have so many friends and family behind me. For the next couple of weeks I ‘ll be packing up and driving down to New Orleans (so if it is a little while before I blog again, just know I’ll be back soon). Overall, my life is going to change drastically and I have many challenges ahead of me…from trying to pack all my things in a little bitty trailer u-haul to hiring a staff to paying the light bill. But it is a challenge I am up for and will handle. Take the ride with me and see how Kid’s Play NOLA expands year to year, week to week, and day to day.
Have a Happy Holidays and wish me luck on this adventure!
