Modern technique class starts with a full bodied physical and technical warm-up which emphasizes building a sturdy technical base and increase core strength to support any dance style. We will investigate movement phrases that explore texture, rhythm, breath, space, and weight, the movement will vary from lyrical and fluid to fast and staccato; but always encouraging personal movement styles.  The class will help each dancer to improve posture, coordination, flexibility, and rhythm.  Dancers will also improve technically and artistically by expressing their individuality through dance.

Creative movement is an introduction to different movement styles such as ballet, tap, karate, and yoga. Students explore their own creativity and imagination through movement exercises. The class will strengthen each student in coordination, strength, and musicality. Overall, the class will be a fun and new way to discover the many ways we can move our bodies through the space.

This summer Kid’s Play NOLA is teaming up with the New Orleans Dance Festival at Tulane to put on an spectacular summer camp. Our summer programing goes above and beyond typical summer camps because students will have to opportunity to take master workshops with NOLA Dance Festival artists in Congolese, Haitian, and Cuban Dance. A typical day includes daily music, dance, and art classes, with additional workshops in theater and yoga.
